1
CITIZEN LEARNING WORKSHOPS

Activating learning about the built environment

The aim of these workshops is to act as a tool to critically observe the built environment - to achieve two goals: to develop the capacity for people to think about the spaces we inhabit daily in an informed manner, and to activate their right to a voice in the process of design and construction.

The qualities of awareness, learning and empowerment for groups that are or will be subject of urban renewal projects, new public infrastructure or as part of a training activity in the school, university or community context are brought to the forefront of conversation and actions.

Through creative activities a collective analysis of built environment aspirations for where we live can create more space for activists to enagage with the city.

2
PARTICIPATORY DESIGN

Activites that incorporate the opinions of the users of design

Participatory design is formed of many activities that each help to establish a deeper working process, aiming to build capacity and enabling spaces for dialogue and communication between the different participants involved with the design of public spaces and / or new infrastructure. The concept offers both decision makers and professionals degrees of ownership of elements of the projects and through this controlled action members of the community have a legitimate and incident voice in decisions that affect them regarding the spaces they inhabit. Remaining informed, giving their opinion, and deliberating together to reach a necessary consensus.

3
RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT FOR INSTITUTIONS

We advise institutions and companies to create methodologies to encourage community links with the built environment

We advise both public and private groups on issues related with built environment institutions. The aim is to collaborate in developing 1) projects at local, regional or national level awareness and dissemination of issues related to the city, heritage and architecture, 2) methodologies of participation in infrastructure, encouraging community ownership with the spaces they inhabit and / or newly generated projects, qualifying the information needed to design and build spaces for the participation of citizens.
